SCHOOLS


All school choirs that take part in THE BIG SING or THE KIDS SING now automatically receive 'associate membership' of the NZCF for the year of entry.
 
This entitles them to:
  • membership of the largest choral network in New Zealand, with the NZCF representing the interests of some 13,000 members – drawn from approximately 200 chamber/community choirs, 280 school choirs and 400 individuals. The NZCF is a member of the International Federation for Choral Music
  • a free email version of Breve for the choir’s conductor
  • monthly NZCF E-News
  • invitations to attend educational NZCF events, such as choral workshops and courses on singing and conducting, run by top New Zealand and internationally-recognised choral practitioners, with admission at member rates

Optional full membership

In addition, for an annual subscription (maximum $82 per choir, or $140 per school), school choirs can also join the NZCF as “full” members, with the following benefits:
  • a free choir website page listing choir contact/rehearsal details and a description of the choir, as well as provision to add news, photos, audio, video and concert details in the regional section (updated by the choir via a password-protected link).
    This is also linked to the new “Find a Choir” facility. See below for more details;
  • free listing of concerts in the NZCF national events calendar
  • free advertising of vacancies for choir directors under Conducting/Vacancies
  • free listing of the choir’s own website under Links/Choirs
  • an optional comprehensive, tailored insurance package (assets and public liability) for choirs at a low premium (usually $85, but adjusted to $105 for 2011 for a one-off 15-month period of 1 January 2011 to 31 March 2012)
  • an APRA licence for performance of copyrighted music
  • invitations to attend educational NZCF events, such as choral workshops and courses on singing and conducting, run by top New Zealand and internationally-recognised choral practitioners
  • entry to NZCF regional and nationally-organised events, eg Sing Aotearoa and the Choral Conducting Clinics , at discounted member rates
  • professional development opportunities for choir leaders
  • copies of the NZCF quarterly newsletter Breve
  • advertising of concerts etc in Breve and on the website at member rates
  • 20% discount on music hired from the National Library, and discounts on NZCF publications
  • opportunities to network and combine with other choral singers and conductors, for encouragement and sharing of information/resources
  • voting rights at elections at one vote per 25 singers
