AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2008

NATIONAL CHORAL CLINICS FOR CONDUCTORS AND SINGERS

National Choral Clinics

The NZCF Governance Board has organised a series of 12 conducting clinics nationwide with internationally recognised tutors from abroad. These will offer substantial coaching for conductors and singers from experienced, highly-qualified, overseas practitioners. If you have a passion for choral conducting or singing, these clinics are essential for you.

NEW ZEALAND–WIDE
• Twelve regionally-based weekend clinics held throughout New Zealand in August/September 2008
• Run by four internationally-recognised and expert conductor-teachers
• Inspiring and hands-on, supportive, practical sessions
• A wonderful learning opportunity for choral conductors and singers

CONDUCTORS!
• Hone your conducting skills under highly-skilled, professional tuition
• Learn how to rehearse your choir more effectively
• Discover high-quality and attractive new choral music
• Conductors at all levels are welcome (beginners to advanced) – all will have an opportunity to work with the Clinic Choir
• Limit: 20 conductors per clinic
• When not conducting, each of the 20 conductors involved will form part of the Clinic Choir
• Course fee: $110, which includes Saturday’s lunch, morning/afternoon teas, music and the Friday night reception with the Clinician and fellow conductors

SINGERS!
• Improve your vocal expertise and choral techniques
• Refine your understanding of choral music
• Watch world-class conductors at work
• Sing fascinating music with choral colleagues
• You will work with the Clinician, and a wide variety of local conductors, towards an informal Sunday afternoon concert
• Limit: 50 singers per clinic (plus conductors)
• Course fee: $40 (NZCF members), $50 (non-members), which includes Saturday’s lunch, morning/afternoon teas and music

PROGRAMME
(example only, this may vary slightly from region to region)
Friday 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm. Reception with the clinician, conductors and guests
Saturday 8.30 am – 5.15 pm Choral Clinic Part One
Sunday 1.00 pm – 5.30 pm Choral Clinic Part Two including a short, free concert at 5.10 pm

SPONSORSHIP
Conductors and singers are encouraged to seek financial assistance for the Clinic fee (which is already subsidised by NZCF and Creative New Zealand) from their choir committee, school or other institution. It is hoped that a group from a conductor’s choir will apply as singers to support their conductor.
