Singers from NZCF had the opportunity to sing in the Sagrada Famila, Barcelona, for several hours on Friday 28 July to test the acoustics for the architect, Mark Burry, who succeeded Gaudi. Mark is also a Kiwi, hence the connection with us. We performed five pieces (Fum, fum, fum (a Spanish Carol), A Blessing (David Hamilton), Locus iste – Bruckner, O vos omnes (Pablo Casals) and Ka Waiata. We ended off with an impromptu performance of the Hallelujah Chorus and almost raised the roof – the 12-second reverberation was unbelievable. An unforgettable experience for all of us.
