About

Young Direction is a conference for leaders of children's choirs at all stages of their development – whether highly experienced or just starting out.

Kids of Note is a national children's choir course for young singers aged 9 to 14. We hope that, ultimately, a national children’s choir will evolve from this gathering.

Both events are run by the NZCF Association of Choral Directors, and led by Artistic Director Karen Grylls and Guest Conductor Elise Bradley.

Founded in 2010, the NZCF Association of Choral Directors (ACD) is an organisation within the NZCF providing professional development for our choral directors and a mentoring network for them.

  • ACD Advisors - these choral advisors are available to work with conductors and their choirs
  • ACD Forum - online discussions and sharing of ideas with your choral colleagues
  • Regular invitations to workshops, seminars, masterclasses, conducting clinics
  • Signficant discounts on registration fees to NZCF and ACD events
  • Online educational resources such as downloadable articles on conducting, training and organisation of choirs
  • DVD library
  • Communication with members through monthly e-News, our website and networking opportunities
  • A biennial national convention
  • Discounts to the concerts of Chamber Music New Zealand and other groups
