The New Zealand Choral Federation Inc. is a non-profit organisation promoting the performance, creation and enjoyment of choral music. We represent the interests of over 21,000 members from 230 chamber & community choirs, over 280 school choirs and 400 individual memberships. The NZCF provides:
• Training for choral professionals and conductors
• Promotion of leading choirs and choral excellence
• Performance opportunities for NZ composers
• Events to meet the diverse needs of NZ choirs including the “The Big Sing” for secondary schools.
We are a volunteer organisation with a full-time Chief Executive and part-time Operations Manager. The NZCF relies on the dedication and goodwill of its many members spread across New Zealand for its success.
The NZCF has won the rights to host the triennial World Symposium on Choral Music in Auckland in July 2020. A separate company has been set up by the NZCF to manage this event.
About the role
As ‘the face of NZCF’, you will need to be seen and heard and to build relationships. You will motivate our diverse range of stakeholders and expand relationships with Māori. The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for the delivery of membership services and choral activities, many of which are arranged and delivered by volunteers. This role is a hands-on operational role with a high degree of visibility.
You will develop strategy with the board and report to us on financial and risk management. Fund raising is a core role. The Chief Executive directs the Operations Manager, Accountant and Events Management Teams for delivery of membership services and choral activities.
Qualities we are looking for
We are looking for a collaborative leader, excellent communicator and experienced networker with sound administrative and IT skills. Affinity for the arts sector will be highly valued, and a demonstrated interest in, experience of or passion for choral singing is essential.
The salary will be commensurate with similar roles in the arts sector.
