Joe Christensen of Havelock North, the Musical Director of the NZ Male Choir, is the Facilitator for this year’s Manawatu-Whanganui workshop in Marton on Saturday 18 May entitled “The things a conductor wished you knew”. The workshop is open to all.
The morning session will have you in the conductor’s shoes and will be of interest to all singers and conductors. Conducting and singing using two contrasting spirituals linked with choruses from Messiah will comprise the afternoon sessions, when Joe will apply the morning’s training to the Messiah passages and will work on different approaches to effecting changes in the choral sound.
Registration fee for the full day workshop is $20, (no reduction for half day attendance – not recommended because of the structure of the programme).
Personal and ACD members of the NZ Choral Federation $15.
Fees include provision of tea, coffee, fruit juice at the morning/afternoon tea and lunch breaks.
Morning Session from 9.30am to 12 noon.
Afternoon sessions from 2pm to 4pm.
Registration will be accepted on the day but pre-workshop registration will assist the organisers greatly. See Registration form for more detail.
