10 – 13 July 2019 at St Mark’s Church School, Basin Reserve, Wellington
Don’t miss this year’s Choral Connect – four days of professional development and networking that will leave you inspired and invigorated. The focus for Choral Connect 2019 is on working with young and developing voices and we’re delighted that our international choir-in-residence will be the Toronto Children’s Chorus, one of the world’s finest treble choirs, directed by Elise Bradley. The Toronto Children’s Chorus will share the stage with the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir in our final concert in Wellington St Mary of the Angels. Guest choirs at Choral Connect
Choral Connect is not just for conductors of children’s or youth choirs – whether you work with a community, school or chamber choir, you will have the opportunity to work on your gesture in conducting strands and masterclasses, broaden your knowledge through a variety of workshops and repertoire-reading sessions, and work with Artistic Director, Karen Grylls, as she prepares a massed work for the final concert. And we’re thrilled to be offering a special strand this year for choral accompanists – places are limited, so make sure you apply early! Sessions and Strands at Choral Connect
We have a top line-up of presenters, all of whom bring a mix of local and international experience. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in masterclasses with Elise Bradley and Karen Grylls, conducting strands with Karen Grylls, David Squire, Andrew Withington and Jono Palmer, vocal pedagogy sessions with Catrin Johnsson, an accompanists’ strand with Rachel Fuller and other special topic sessions with Mark Stamper, Megan Flint and Julie Wylie. And to bring a Wellington flavour to the convention, two evening concerts are planned in St Mark’s Chapel featuring six of Wellington’s top choirs. Check out more about Choral Connect on our Highlights page and click on Programme for an overview of the week’s timetable.
You’ll find prices on the Fees page – there are discounts for NZCF Personal and ACD members, a special Student rate, and if you get in before 31 May you can take advantage of our Earlybird discount as well! Why not talk to your school or choir to see if they can assist with your registration fees – we’re sure they’ll benefit enormously from the professional development of their conductor or accompanist.
