10 – 13 July St Mark’s Church School, Basin Reserve, Wellington
Last year’s Choral Connect was a huge success – and in 2019 the Association of Choral Directors’ convention will be held in Wellington, offering four days of professional development and networking that will leave you inspired and invigorated. Timed during the July school holidays, Choral Connect is a biennial event for choral leaders of all backgrounds and ability levels. The focus for this year’s convention is on working with young and developing voices. Our choir-in-residence will be the Toronto Children’s Chorus, one of the world’s finest treble choirs, with their conductor Elise Bradley, who will present as a keynote speaker and conducting clinician. Delegates will also have the opportunity to work on their gesture in our conducting strands and masterclasses, broaden their knowledge through a variety of workshops, and work with Artistic Director, Karen Grylls, as she prepares a massed work for the final concert.
To bring a Wellington flavour to the convention, two evening concerts are planned in St Mark’s Chapel featuring a number of top Wellington Choirs. Our final concert in the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul is sure to be a big event with performances from the Toronto Children’s Chorus, the massed delegate choir, and other invited guests.
With more events to be announced soon, Choral Connect is sure to be the major event for choral leaders in 2019. Do join us!
