The World Symposium on Choral Music 2020 is pleased to invite applications from NZCF-registered choirs to participate in its Surround Sounds programme.
Surround Sounds, a fringe festival complementing the main WSCM2020 programme, will showcase even more choirs from New Zealand and around the world.
Selected NZ choirs will perform a lunchtime concert in Auckland in the beautiful neo-Gothic venue of St Matthew-in-the-City alongside one or two other choirs, one of them international. Singers will be able to attend other Surround Sounds events free of charge, and should also have time to go to Symposium concerts in the evenings.
It won’t just be Auckland concertgoers and Symposium delegates who get to experience Surround Sounds. This festival will also take our international choirs to the surrounding regions to perform alongside another overseas group and be hosted by a local choir.
As WSCM2020 Artistic Director John Rosser puts it,“The interest from international and local choirs in sharing their music over the Symposium time has been so overwhelming that we couldn’t resist adding this Surround Sounds programme to run alongside WSCM2020. We are very pleased to be able to extend this opportunity and are excited at the prospect of even more choirs joining us for this wonderful feast of choral music in Auckland next July.”
