NZCF wishes to acknowledge a few of the people who have made this year’s Big Sing Finale so successful.
We would like to begin by expressing to the singers, conductors and accompanists our heartfelt appreciation for sharing your wonderful music with us.
Thank you to the comperes, and also to our adjudicators, Rachael Griffiths-Hughes, Jonathan Grieves-Smith and Anthony Ritchie, as well as Robert Wiremu, who judged the Auahi Kore award this year.
We wish to acknowledge the key supporters of The Big Sing – our primary funder, Creative New Zealand, our newest partner the Ministry of Youth Development, and Tour Time, our principal commercial sponsor who support both The Big Sing and its professional development programme, Fine Tuning
In addition, The SOUNZ centre for New Zealand Music, the New Zealand Community Trust, the Southern Trust, the First Sovereign Foundation, the Mt Wellington Foundation and Felicity Wong have all made important financial contributions towards this event.
Behind the scenes, technical manager Murray Cameron worked together with members of JX Live to provide the audiovisual and live-streaming services our online audience enjoyed.
This year we were delighted to have the sessions recorded by Radio New Zealand Concert, and the Gala Concert will be broadcast on Monday 28 August at 7.00pm on RNZ. The videoed sessions will also appear in due course on our Big Sing YouTube channel
We would also like to recognise the NZCF Governance Board, the National Advisory Committee, The Big Sing Committee, Olive Leddy and the Auckland Regional Committee and our many volunteers for the vital roles that they have played in the planning and running of this festival.
However, the success of The Big Sing Finale this year was in very large part due to the efforts of two people. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to National TBS Coordinator Elizabeth Crayford and particularly to Finale Coordinator, Cathryn Wyllie for their outstanding work.
Congratulations to you all!
Grant Hutchinson, Chief Executive
