Symposium no laughing matter for WSCM2020 Festival Manager!
Despite her comedy credentials, new WSCM Festival Manager Kylie Sealy is taking very seriously the challenge of making the 12th World Symposium the best one yet! “I’m excited to join the team as we prepare to host leading choirs, conductors and composers from around the globe at the World Symposium on Choral Music in 2020. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase New Zealand to the world’s choral community” she says.
A member of the NZ Comedy Trust board, Kylie is an independent arts and events consultant, who is passionate about collaborative practice and the value of the creative sector within Aotearoa.
Most recently, Kylie was the Programme Delivery Manager for the World Masters Games 2017. Within this role, Kylie worked within the Ceremonies & Events team and was responsible for delivering 10 days and nights of programming within the World Masters Games 2017 Entertainment Hub, located at Queens Wharf in Auckland.
Prior to this, from 2008 to 2016, Kylie was the Managing Director of the New Zealand Comedy Trust and was responsible for its strategic direction. Alongside delivering the annual Festival, her focus was on fostering the growth of the comedy industry in New Zealand, leading the Trust’s development programmes.
After graduating from AUT with a Bachelor of Spatial Design in 1999, Kylie began her career in the arts sector managing The Classic Comedy Club. Over the last fifteen years she has worked on numerous festivals and events, including the Tempo Dance Festival, Auckland Arts Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Prior to her appointment as Managing Director, Kylie worked with the New Zealand Comedy Trust as the Festival and Event Producer.
The WSCM team can confirm that meetings with Kylie are a lot of fun, of course!
